Young, Stovall & Company, Turnberry Bank and The Coral Gables Woman's Club will host a wine tasting and food celebration fundraiser from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 9 at the historic Coral Gables Woman's clubhouse, 1001 E. Ponce de Leon Blvd.
Tickets cost $75 and benefit the new Safespace Foundation endowment fund to help victims of domestic violence.
The event will feature wines from Italy's BACCO Wine & Spirits, South Africa's Heritage Link Brands, Napa Valley's Diageo and Homestead's Schnebly Winery.
Food will be provided by Anacapri of Coral Gables, Cafe Abbracci, and The Capri from South Florida.
For reservations, call Carol Nobles at 305-661-5227. Nobles, a financial advisor and vice president at Young, Stovall & Company in Pinecrest, recently announced the new fund to benefit Safespace Foundation.
The foundation is the advisory board for the Advocates for Victims program that runs Safespace domestic violence shelters in Miami-Dade County. The fund will provide financial resources for survivors of domestic violence in their quest to develop marketable skills. Shelter clients, who have participated in the Women's Empowerment Programs offered at Safespace shelters, will be eligible for financial assistance.
Nobles, who is on the board of Safespace Foundation, said her goal is to establish a reliable source of financial help to encourage survivors of domestic violence to remain on the path of independence and self-sufficiency.
``I'm not here to put a small Band-Aid on a big wound,'' she said. ``We recognize that the economic climate has a direct correlation on the increase in the number of domestic violence incidents.''
In addition to Nobles, the fund's investment committee includes: Rocky Young, president, Young Stovall & Company; Mark Vasallo, estate attorney, Vasallo & Vasallo; Joseph M. Jackson, certified public accountant and partner, Sharff, Wittmer, Kurtz & Jackson; Elizabeth S. Baker, Adorno & Yoss attorney; Robert Schroeder, executive director, Safespace Foundation; and Evan Rees, president, Turnberry Bank.
The Miami Metrozoo Rotary Club also has agreed to partner with Safespace Foundation. For more or to make a donation, visit www.safespacefoundation.org.
