Rockwell Collins to close service center

Aerospace company Rockwell Collins will close a service center near Miami International Airport, eliminating 60 jobs.

The center's work will be handled by a Rockwell Collins facility in Mexicali, Mexico, company spokeswoman Pam Tvrdy said.

Workers at the center, at 7235 Corporate Center Drive, will be let go between Dec. 12 and Feb. 20, Tvrdy said.

The service center maintained in-flight entertainment equipment. Demand for the service has declined due to a slowdown in the airline industry, Tvrdy said. Workers will receive severence and help finding new jobs, she said.
