Computers to promote tots' careers

Similar stories:

The Miami-Dade school district, the Early Learning Coalition and the United Way of Miami-Dade will receive $174,000 to bring computers to toddlers.

The grant -- from IBM's KidSmart Early Learning Program -- will be used to create computer centers where pre-kindergartners can learn math and science concepts.

The centers will be housed in schools and communities with a predominantly Hispanic population, IBM officials said.

IBM launched the KidSmart initiative to address the low number of Hispanics who pursue math, science and technology careers.
