A head-on crash Sunday morning in Miami Gardens left one man dead and halted traffic on Northwest 199th Street near LandShark Stadium.

Westbound 199th Street was closed from Northwest 27th Avenue to the ramps to Florida's Turnpike, Miami Gardens police said.

According to police, a gray Nissan Altima crossed four lanes of traffic and hit a Nissan Armada SUV, witnesses said.

None of the people involved were identified by police.

A passenger in the Altima was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he was in critical condition. A woman driving the Armada was also taken to the trauma center with multiple broken bones, but was in stable condition, police said.
