Haiti presidential candidate sets S. Fla. event
Haiti's presidential campaign may be a year away, but at least one candidate and his supporters aren't wasting any time reaching out to the Haitian Diaspora and promoting his candidacy.
Dr. Guy D. Theodore, the former U.S. Air Force colonel who returned to his native Haiti several years ago and helped transform healthcare in his native village of Pignon in northern Haiti, is now a presidential candidate. Theodore's accomplishments as a doctor and the modern hospital he built in Pignon have made him a cause celebre among villagers and elsewhere.
Theodore will visit South Florida for a town hall and fundraising event from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Jean Jacques Dessalines Auditorium, 8325 NE Second Ave. in Miami.
Supporters are seeking a minimum donation of $25. For further information, call 754-244-3110 or 347-546-1468 or email desbas@guytheodore.com. The event is being organized by the Friends of Haiti of 2010 Committee.
