Miami-Dade prosecutors on Thursday arrested the husband, son and sister of Opa-Locka Mayor Myra Taylor for allegedly conspiring to cover-up more than $6,000 in illegal campaign contributions to her November 2010 election campaign.

Victim’s scream scares Miami Gardens car burglar

A man broke into the front passenger door of a silver 2005 Chevy Impala in the 2900 block of Northwest 174th Street about 4 a.m. Jan. 16. The victim, who saw the man from her window, screamed and scared the burglar, who fled in a blue Nissan Maxima. Damage to the Impala is estimated at $200.

A woman stole a silver 2007 Honda Pilot from a Walmart parking lot in the 17600 block of Northwest Second Avenue between 9:30 and 10 p.m. Jan 16. The woman’s spouse, who police believe stole the car, waited for the victim to enter the Walmart and then drove off with the vehicle without the victim’s permission. The car was valued at $20,000.
