Six Tequesta boy scouts receive their Eagle awards
Six Boy Scouts received their Eagle awards in ceremonies in August and September.

Six area Tequesta District Boy Scouts recently achieved the rank of Eagle in various ceremonies, thus earning the highest award in scouting.
Jose G. Tremols from Troop 16, which is chartered from Saint Teresa Catholic (Little Flower) Church at 2711 Indian Mound Trail in Coral Gables, became an Eagle Scout on July 8. He was a senior at Christopher Columbus Catholic High School and will pursue a career in mechanical engineering at University of Wyoming. He has enlisted in the Air National Guard and will attend officer candidate school followed by a career in the military.
Jose's Eagle project entailed building the First Firefighter Memorial Garden in Miami-Dade County for Miami-Dade Firefighters Union building, 8000 NW 21st St. This project was a major undertaking since it took numerous permitting steps, coordination, organization and planning. Various committee approvals were required due the size and scope of the project. Many calls to politicians and major donations, plus getting old fire hydrants from Miami-Dade Water and Sewer was also required for the permanent memorial for the firefighters.
The project total man hours were 464 and had a total cost of $32,280. His parents are Natelie and Jose Tremols and his scoutmaster is Al Garver.
Christopher E. Rivas from Crew 43, which is chartered by Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, 500 SW 127th Ave., was awarded his Eagle Scout on Aug. 12. He is currently a Senior at Braddock Senior High, and plans to pursue a career in teaching or detective work.
Chris's Eagle project entailed building a fire wood storage and a fire pit area at Montura Ranch States in Clewiston. This project was a major construction undertaking and a logistic problem due to the distance for volunteers.
The project total man hours were 274 and had a total cost of $775.
His parents are Marilyn and Daniel Rivas and his Crew 43 Venture Advisor is Angelica Zayas.
Humberto C. Diaz from Troop 64, chartered by the First United Church of Coral Gables, became an Eagle Scout on Aug. 12. He is currently a senior at Coral Gables Senior High School, and plans to pursue a career in Music Production.
Humberto's Eagle project entailed building five bird houses at A.D. Barnes Park on Bird Road. The project total man hours were 96 and had a total cost of $75. Humberto's mom is Consuelo A. Diaz and his scoutmaster is Tom Housholder. His former Scoutmaster of Troop 710 was Mignon Castineira.
Jordan R. Lee, from Troop 362, chartered by The First Methodist Church of South Miami, 6565 Red Rd., became an Eagle on Sept. 9. He is currently at Miami Dade College and once he graduates, will transfer to University of Miami to pursue being a nutritionist.
Jordan's project entailed planting 800 sea oats at Virginia Key. The project total man hours were 122 and was completed in June for a total cost of $995. His parents are Heidi and David Lee and his scoutmaster is Lynn Villoch.
Armando J. Garcia from Troop 575, chartered from Saint Peter & Paul Catholic School, 900 SW 26th Rd., was awarded his Eagle on Sept. 9. He is a senior at Belen Jesuit High, and plans to pursue a career in business administration.
Armando's project entailed building care packages for the migrant workers from Saint Ann's Catholic Church and Mission, 13875 SW 264 St. in Naranja. The project total man hours were 80 and cost $1,316. It required various fundraisers due to the size and cost of the project. His parents are Caridad and Armando Garcia and his scoutmaster is Mario Cruz.
Kevin Berriz from Crew 43, chartered from Belen Jesuit, became an Eagle Scout on Sept. 9. He is currently a senior at John A. Ferguson High, and plans to pursue a career in the medical field as a surgeon.
Kevin's project entailed building a butterfly garden at Indian Hammocks Park, 11395 SW 79th St. The total man hours were 63 and was completed in March. His parents are Denise and Carlos Berriz, and his Crew 43 advisors are Frank Fernandez and Angelica Zayas.
