`How many people have to die from drinking and using drugs before we realize it is not cool?'' asked Peggy Sapp, president and CEO of Informed Families and volunteer president of the National Family Partnership. The 24th annual Red Ribbon Week is continuing through Saturday and organizers hope they can change lives hurt by alcohol and drug abuse.
``During Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 23 through 31, we educate students and the community about the negative consequences of drug use and how it affects individuals, families, and communities around them,'' Sapp said. ``This year's theme is `Drug Free Is The Key.' We invite each of you to join us in making a difference to help kids grow up safe, healthy and drug-free.''
Informed Families and the National Family Partnership are continuing the parent component called National Lock Your Meds Day on Tuesday, with the theme ``You Are The Key.'' For more, visit www.informedfamilies.org.
