• SWEETWATER AREA

A thief tried to steal jewelry valued at $17.60 from a Forever 21 store in the 11300 block of Northwest 12th Street after taking them from a display and sticking them in her purse between 4 and 4:30 p.m. Oct. 7. The 29-year-old woman was detained by a store security guard until police arrived.

• UNIVERSITY PARK AREA

A thief stole a GPS and two electric grills from a 30-foot fiberglass boat in the 10000 block of Southwest 12th Terrace between 10 a.m. Oct. 9 and 10 a.m. Oct. 12. The items were valued at $2,850.

A thief stole a purse, a wallet, a credit card, an identification card, a bracelet and a book after breaking a window on a 2008 Honda Civic in the 11700 block of Southwest 24th Street between 6:30 and

7:30 p.m. Oct. 7. The items were valued at $296. Damage was estimated at $150.

• FONTAINEBLEAU

A thief stole a .38-caliber handgun and $50 from an unlocked 2006 Ford F-150 in the 400 block of Northwest 97th Place between 1145 p.m. Sept. 28 and 9 a.m. Sept. 29. The items were valued at $679.

• SCHENLEY PARK AREA

A thief stole two navigational devices, tools, a radio, a laptop computer and 300 bullets after breaking two windows and a door lock on a 1995 GMC van, 1995 BMW, 2004 Chrysler and 2002 Lincoln in the 6200 block of Southwest 27th Street between 3:30 and 3:45 a.m. Oct. 9. The items were valued at $4,110. Damage was estimated at $650.

A thief stole a purse and checkbook after breaking a window on an Infiniti as the owner was pumping gas at a station at the corner of Southwest 40th Street and 67th Avenue at 3:45 p.m. Oct. 7. The items were valued at $51. Damage was estimated at $400.

• SOUTH MIAMI

A thief stole the catalytic converter valued at $300 from a Toyota 4Runner at Bank Atlantic, 6202 S. Dixie Hwy., between 1 and 3:30 p.m. Oct. 1.

A thief smashed a window of a car outside Chipotle Mexican Grill, 6290 S. Dixie Hwy., and stole a laptop computer valued at $1,000 between 2:30 and 2:45 p.m. Oct. 1.

A thief stole two laser paint sprayers valued at $2,600 from the storage area at Palmer Park, 6100 SW 67th Ave., between

1 p.m. Sept. 30 and 7:30 a.m.

• FAIRWAY HEIGHTS

A thief stole a purse after breaking a window on a 2007 Honda CR-V in the 16100 block of Southwest 106th Avenue at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 4. The purse was valued at $50. Damage was estimated at $250.

• PINECREST

A thief stole a leaf blower valued at $200 from a man landscaping a property in the 10900 block of Southwest 67th Avenue between 4:30 p.m. Sept. 19 and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 22.

A thief smashed a window of a 2003 Mercedes-Benz outside a post office, 13101 S. Dixie Hwy., and stole a laptop computer valued at $3,000, books, valued at $300, and a purse, valued at $75 between 9:45 and

10 a.m. Sept. 23.

A thief stole a three-foot-high Art Deco metal stand valued at $150 from the front lawn of a house in the 12900 block of Southwest 71st Avenue between 11:15 p.m. Sept. 21

and 8 p.m. Sept. 22.

• PALMETTO BAY

A thief stole $40, a purse, a boot, make-up and a camera from an unlocked 2001 Honda Civic in the 8800 block of Southwest 174th Street between 1 and 10 a.m. Oct. 2. The items were valued at $520.

A thief stole a computer and a printer after breaking a window on a 2008 Volvo in the 8800 block of Southwest 177th Terrace between 11 p.m. Oct. 1 and 9 a.m. Oct. 2. The items were valued at $6,300. Damage was estimated at $200.
