Friday the 13th may or may not be taking effect for some drivers on South Florida roads. More than a dozen crashes were reported by the Florida Highway Patrol, all before 8 a.m. Friday.
Across Miami-Dade County, nearly 20 crashes were tallied on FHP traffic crash report, and although most did not block the roadway, a few major crashes did manage to jam the flow.
Crashes piled up along the major routes: Dolphin Expressway, I-95 and US-1. But luckily, traffic isn’t any worse than usual on this superstitious day.
“Some days are worse than others,” a Florida Highway Patrol shift duty officer said, “but to me, it's kind of normal.”
Never miss a local story.
So drivers shouldn’t feel too unlucky to be stuck in traffic. Such as it was for one car that plowed into a North Miami Beach store front overnight, things could be worse.
