A 99-year-old woman woke up to find an exotic raccoon-like animal sitting on her chest. She screamed, the animal bolted up to the attic — and now both are recovering from the trauma.
According to reports, a kinkajou entered a Southwest Miami-Dade home and scared the elderly woman on Tuesday.
“The lady is sound asleep and she feels something on her chest and she slowly wakes up, and realizes that there’s an animal curled up sleeping on her chest,” veterinarian Don Harris told Miami Herald news partner CBS4. “I don’t know, I guess her first impression was it might be a cat, but when they both got a look at each other, they both freaked out. The lady screamed, the kinkajou went into her attic.”
The raccoon relative, which looks like a monkey, was lured out of the attic.
The kinkajou, usually found in Central and South American rainforests, is a pet and the owner planned to pick it up on Wednesday.
