A driver is in custody and one person is dead after a fatal hit-and-run in Hialeah on Saturday.
According to Hialeah police, a driver in a white vehicle ran a stop sign located near West Second Avenue and 20th Street — hitting an SUV carrying six people.
A 66-year-old woman was ejected from the SUV, which then landed on her. Neighbors lifted the car off the woman but it was too late.
The other five passengers suffered minor injuries and were not taken to the hospital.

The driver of the white car fled the scene, but witnesses gave police a description. Police caught up to the driver not far from the scene of the crash.
The suspect allegedly resisted arrest, forcing a Hialeah officer to shock him with a Taser.
The driver, whose name was not immediately released, taken to the Hialeah Police Department. Charges are pending.
