Replacing your green card? Yeah, there’s an app for that.
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced Tuesday that the paperwork to replace a lost, damaged or expired permanent residence card — better known as the green card — can now be done on a cell phone.
The app — which can be downloaded for free after creating an online account at https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/ — allows green card holders to use their phones to not only download the I-90 application for a new one, but fill it out and send it back.
They can even snap photos of any other document required with the I-90 (for instance, a copy of a government-issued ID) and submit them along with the application.
Never miss a local story.
The app also allows green card holders to track the status of their application online and to communicate with USCIS through a secure inbox.
