The Everglades will feel the funk this weekend with a daylong benefit concert in Wynwood.
On Sunday, the Love the Everglades Movement will hold its ninth benefit concert, a daylong mash-up of music, spoken word, dance and activists to draw attention to the beleaguered wetlands in the midst of a state and federal restoration effort. The concert starts at 2 p.m. at Gramps and features an eclectic mix of entertainment including the Spam Allstars, Army Gideon, the Oski Foundation, Venus Rising and Mr. Grim Reappa.
This year’s concert “is shaping up to be our best yet, and is truly focused on giving back to the Everglades," said Houston Cypress, a co-founder of the movement who is scheduled to speak alongside Miami Rep. David Richardson and members of the Sierra club, Floridians for Solar Choice, the Urban Paradise Guild and other groups.
Tickets are $10. Admission for children is free. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.eventbrite.com.
