Fans of the hit show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will have a chance to live a dream.
Television actor Austin St. John, real name Jason Geiger, who played the original red ranger in the hit show is one of many actors and stars who will be at the Magic City Con at the Miami Airport Convention Center for a chance to interact with fans.
The star, now an emergency medical technician, returns to South Florida and he is looking forward to it.
“Everyone is friendly. It’s an incredible warm reflection,” he said in a phone interview. “I heard so many stories on how my castmates and I played a role in their lives when they were children.”
The three-day convention will feature hundreds of events and top celebrity guests from comic books, movies, TV series, cartoons, video games, sci-fi and professional wrestlers. There will be vendors, parties, anime and workshops. Also, there will be a cosplay, costuming event and a super geek film festival.
St. John says he loves to hear from fans.
“Parents tell me what they saw with their children. It’s a great experience all around,” he said. “I would have never dreamed that I would come back and do a Power Ranger appearance after becoming an EMT. But I love it.”
The show was popular back in the 1990s and still has a loyal fan base. A movie is being planned to be released sometime next year.
Professional wrestler and actor Bill Goldberg will appear on Saturday as Karen Gillan, star of Doctor Who and the movie, Guardians of the Galaxy.
