South Miami Vice Mayor Bob Welsh has made it his personal mission to protect the tree canopy in Miami-Dade County.
Now, he has an award to show for it.
Welsh also serves on South Miami’s environmental and preservation board. He was recognized April 15 at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus as part of the Great Parks Summit.
Welsh, 62, was awarded the Million Trees Crown Canopy Leadership Award for his dedication in protecting and increasing the county’s canopy. He received the award during the Neat Streets Maintenance and Beautification Contest.
Never miss a local story.
The summit showcased the county parks, recreation, and open spaces’ 50-year-plan for connecting communities.
