A Miami Lakes man was killed in a motorcycle accident in North Miami Wednesday evening.

Juan Emilio Izquierdo, 21, died from extensive injuries suffered in a collision with a Volkswagen Beetle while riding his motorcycle on a wet Biscayne Boulevard at Northeast 126th Street, in front of the Keystone Point neighborhood.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of the accident around 6 p.m.

Police were investigating the cause of the collision and declined to name the Beetle’s driver.

He was “still showing signs of life” when responders arrived at the scene, according to North Miami police Maj. Neil Cuevas.

Miami Dade Fire Rescue flew Izquierdo to Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, where he was pronounced dead at 7:29 p.m., shortly after arriving there.

Biscayne was closed in both directions between 123rd and 127rd Street after the accident.
