Ballet Flamenco La Rosa will present Ritmo y Pasion (Rhythm and Passion) 3 p.m. Sunday at the Black Box Theatre of PAN, Performing Arts Network, in North Miami.
Ritmo y Pasion is an original work that celebrates Ballet Flamenco La Rosa’s 30th season.
Here are details from a company news release:
The international flavor and appeal of Flamenco will be brought to life by an international cast of performers and musicians, capturing the spellbinding power of Flamenco at its best - vocalist Salvador De Angela, guitarist Alex Jordan, dancers Jose Junco, Juan Sobrino, Maria Mercedes and Ilisa Rosal. Ritmo y Pasion reflects the collaborative efforts of Artistic Director and choreographer Ilisa Rosal, with the acclaimed Spanish master teacher, performer and choreographer, Manolete. Born in Miami, Rosal had moved to Spain to work with the best Flamenco artists of her generation, where she met Manolete, who became her mentor and one of the strongest influences on her Flamenco style.
With its spectacular footwork, precise athleticism and vibrant energy, Ritmo y Pasion is at once sensual and spiritual, raw and refined, and filled with both restrained passion and electrifying release, making for a powerful and passionate production.
Ritmo y Pasion will delight with authentic Flamenco music and dance, produced in a range of rhythms and styles that are dramatic, soulful, joyous, sensual and passionate all at once. Add the powerful vocals, electrifying footwork, and all of the grace and beauty that has made Flamenco so loved by audiences throughout the world, and this authentic Flamenco production will have you on your feet, chanting “Ole!”
Ritmo y Pasion takes place on Sunday, March 1 at 3 pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door; $10 for members, seniors and students. Limited seating, advance purchase recommended.
