The Upper Eastside will not be holding any events or fireworks for the 4th of July, according to the city of Miami’s local Neighborhood Enhancement Team office.
Commander of the American Legion Post # 29 Roger Kidder said that he has not received any requests to use the Legion’s post, located on 6445 N.E. Seventh Ave., for Fourth of July celebrations, a place that’s been used in past years for such occasions.
“I have the final word on any event that would take place, and as of now I have not heard anything,” Kidder said. “We have not sent any petitions or permit to the city of Miami for fireworks over the weekend.”
That leaves Bayfront Park as the main option for locals seeking to experience the traditional fireworks for the holiday.
Never miss a local story.
Bayfront Park, located at 301 North Biscayne Blvd. in downtown Miami, will have fireworks at 9 p.m., according to Carol Cutt, marketing director for the park.
The event is free admission to the public.
