The Miami Springs Woman’s Club held its annual President’s Reception on Monday, Oct. 6 at their clubhouse on Westward Drive.
Second-term president Nancy Voye greeted members and honored guests representing Woman’s Clubs in other areas of Miami-Dade County. All clubs belong to the Greater Federation of Woman’s Clubs.
Besides Voye, the local executive board consists of First Vice President Elizabeth Fisher, Second Vice President Carmen Tapp, Recording Secretary Ruth Boggs, Treasurer Nancy Hammiel, Corresponding Secretary Nancy Strama and Past President Lynda Randolph.
After a luncheon, Past President Niki Jester was mistress of ceremonies and introduced Voye and special guests. Entertainment was provided by Katie Odom, who sang a medley that included show tunes and opera.
Voye said she was proud of what the club had accomplished during her first one-year term as president.
“We renovated the entire clubhouse,” said Voye. “That cannot be equaled. The fundraising, new bathrooms and kitchen and everything turned out spectacular.”
The Woman’s Club’s regular activities include: The Annual Christmas Party where the community is invited, a Home Life Program in January to help people learn to provide home elder care, including K-9 companions, a conservation program in April, fine arts, scholarship program and Relay for Life survivor’s luncheon.
“We’ll take part in other things as they come along,” said Voye. “We’re always busy.”
