A Hollywood police officer spotted a man in a vehicle in Miami Gardens Thursday morning, followed him for a block, then fired at the vehicle before the man fled, police said.
Miami Gardens police released very little information, but said they are searching for the man and still can’t confirm why the Hollywood officer was in Miami Gardens or why he shot at the man.
Police wouldn’t, or couldn’t, name the man, and they wouldn’t release the make or model of the vehicle he was driving.
According to Miami Gardens police spokesman Michael Wright, the Hollywood officer first spotted the man near the corner of Northwest 199th Street and Second Avenue at about 9:45 a.m. Wright said the officer followed the man in the vehicle for a block along 199th to Northwest Third Court, when he fired his weapon.
Wright wouldn’t say how many times the officer fired, wouldn’t say if the man was shot, and wouldn’t name the officer. He did say police have the car and are searching it for evidence. Wright said the Hollywood officer was on-duty in an unmarked car when he fired his weapon.
