Miami Gardens police on Tuesday morning are looking for a robber who shot a retired U.S. Marline in front of his home.
Robert Outler, 66, who survived two tours of duty in Vietnam, was shot in the shoulder over his gold chain as he was arriving home, his son told CBS4.
Outler, visiting his Miami Gardens home from Georgia, was ambushed on Northwest 158th Street and 22nd Court at about 2 a.m. Monday. His son said Outler was shot after he tried to push the robber away. The gunman escaped in a waiting car.
"Unbelievable. I'm just shocked," brother Ken Outler told reporters at the scene.
Outler is in surgery with a broken bone at Jackson Memorial Hospital and is expected to be OK, according to the report.
