More than 400 guests flocked to the grand opening cocktail bash June 25 for Suitsupply, to check out the European menswear brand’s body-hugging tailor-made suits, casual wear and accessories.
Suitsupply designs, manufactures and distributes its own collections, making them more affordable than other designer suit brands. The chain eschews advertising, opting instead for e-commerce and word of mouth to drive people to its stores.
The Miami Beach store — Suitsupply’s 61st worldwide and 14th in the United States — is located at 1000 17th St., off Lincoln Road at the corner of 17th Street and Michigan Ave. It’s on the third floor in a new three-story modern building (formerly a parking lot) built by local real estate developer Michael Comras of the Comras Company.
The bold, bright space includes 4,500 square feet of retail along with a 1,500 square foot roof-top terrace offering a foosball table, outdoor seating and a coffee/beer bar where customers can relax while waiting for their selections to be altered by an on-site tailor.
Never miss a local story.
The grand opening featured free-flowing champagne (more than 300 bottles of Veuve Clicquot were consumed), DJ Gabby Mejia (who spins at all Suitsupply grand openings) and a Suitsupply-operated drone taking photos and videos of rooftop guests for uploading onto the chain’s website.
Notable attendees included Suitsupply CEO and founder Fokke de Jong, Miami Beach Commissioner Michael Grieco, Alan Randolph, Bertil Espegren, Brandon Weitz, Chapman Ducote, Dan Scala, Frederic Marq, Irene Marie, Jennifer Valoppi and Mack Scott.
For now, Suitsupply is the only business operating in the building, but additional retail is expected to occupy the first and second floors. While the Miami Beach store is the brand’s first retail location in Florida, insiders say there will be more to come in the state. New stores are also slated to open in Greenwich, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Suitsupply Miami Beach is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays. To learn more, call 305-349-3941 or visit us.suitsupply.com.
