When Johnclif Pierre headed for a South Miami-Dade KFC in Sunday’s wee hours, Miami-Dade police said, he was looking for money, not munchies. But Pierre wound up being the munched when a K-9 officer helped catch Pierre.
A glass door got hit with bullets. No humans did.
Pierre was hit with a few charges: armed robbery, false imprisonment with a deadly weapon, firearm possession by a felon. In August, Pierre finished a four-year stint with Florida’s Department of Corrections for burglary and grand theft.
As the KFC employees left the 30010 South Dixie Hwy. location around 1 a.m., cops say Pierre showed up and marched them back inside at gunpoint. He wanted the manager to open the safe. Whether intentionally or not, the manager couldn’t do so and needed to phone his supervisor for a new pass code.
Never miss a local story.
The supervisor smelled something going on at the store other than 11 herbs and spices. She called police. Arriving police prompted Pierre to shoot at a glass door and skedaddle on foot.
An officer fired at him and missed. The K-9 officer and a Special Response Team member caught Pierre. The K-9 officer bit both in the tussle.
Both Pierre and the SRT member went to Jackson Memorial Hospital South for treatment. Then, Pierre went to jail.
