A cross between Phish, art, fandom, and music, The PhanArt Poster and Pin Exhibition: Miami will feature a variety of artists inspired by Phish. This free event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at the Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts.
Just before Phish performs their third show at the AmericanAirlines Arena five blocks away, Phish artists Michael Boyer, TRiPP, Isadora Bullock and more will exhibit and sell their work.
“Phish’s music is a catalyst for creativity that has spawned a great deal of artistic interpretation,” said Pete Mason, creator and producer of the event.
Pin makers and designers will also showcase their popular pin designs and other items made specifically for the Miami art show. There will be art for all ages and a range of creations, from small pins and stickers to large canvases and apparel. Pieces range from $1 to $250 and tubes will be sold at the event.
Never miss a local story.
Accompanying the Phish art, clothes, and posters, pianist Holly Bowling from San Francisco will perform Phish songs on the hour from 1-5 p.m.
PhanArt shows started in November 2013 and have been successful in attracting new audiences to the Phish art community, said Mason.
The PhanArt Poster and Pin Exhibition will also benefit The Mockingbird Foundation. Since 2009, PhanArt has raised over $18,000 for The Mockingbird Foundation, dedicated to awarding grants for music education.
“The art community found within the Phish community has grown exponentially over the past two decades, and especially so over the past few years. It is the gathering of this “phamily” that I am most excited about for the upcoming PhanArt show,” said artist Ryan Kerrigan, who will be selling signed and limited pieces at the show.
