Quick thinking by a 13-year-old boy last week resulted in an arrest for a man accused of video voyeurism.
An employee at The Knife restaurant at Bayside Marketplace was arrested for allegedly filming the boy while he was using the bathroom at the restaurant, the Miami Herald news partner CBS4 reported.
Eduardo Sanchez, 43, has since been released on a $7,500 bond.
While he was in the stall, the teen told police he heard a cellphone power up, then noticed a phone above him, aiming down, CBS reports.
According to Miami Police, the boy began screaming that he was going to call the police. CBS reports that Sanchez tried in vain to open the child’s stall before leaving. The teen called his father, who retrieved him, according to the report.
When the boy emerged from the bathroom, a scuffle broke out between the father and Sanchez when the teen identified Sanchez by his shoes and phone, according to CBS.
“What it was, was a pair of black and white sneakers and remembering that the phone in itself was white was what helped us find this man inside that restaurant,” Kenia Fallat with the Miami Police Department told CBS.
Sanchez is was charged with video voyeurism for a child less than 16 years old.
