The memorial service for former University of Miami president Edward “Tad” Foote II, who died Feb. 15 at 78, is being held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Gusman Concert Hall on the UM campus in Coral Gables.
Foote, who served the university from 1981 to 2001, was UM’s fourth president and the longest-serving president at a private university.
Among his achievements: Foote bolstered students’ academic quality and created three new colleges — the School of Architecture, School of Communication and the Graduate School of International Studies.
Never miss a local story.
Among those speaking today at the service: UM President Julio Frenk, former Ambassador Chuck Cobb (a UM Trustee) and family members.
