When plans to open a restaurant in Coconut Grove were being drawn up, Jose Torres and Ariel Alonso kept coming back to what they said the area was missing: a conveniently located, Asian-fusion takeout and delivery restaurant.
After a year of preparation, CocoWok opened in February at 3015 Grand Ave., directly adjacent to the Grove’s epicenter, Cocowalk. Serving fast, fresh and healthy Asian-style rice, noodles and vegetable dishes with a choice of beef, chicken or shrimp cooked to order, CocoWok prides itself on a simple evolving menu that caters to customers’ special requests.
“Coconut Grove residents know what they want and we appreciate the feedback,” said Torres, 41, who checks Twitter, Facebook and emails often for prompt responses to suggestions or complaints.
Although the restaurant is small, with indoor seating for eight and few additional tables outside, it has received large accolades from Grove customers.
