Miami police arrested a homeless man and convicted felon who detectives say stole two assault rifles from a Mercedes in a Brickell condominium garage earlier this month.
Robert Patterson, 30, now faces charges including armed burglary of an unoccupied car, grand theft and firearm possession by a convicted felon. His record includes arrests for burglary and petty theft.
On June 12, a man reported to police that his two Smith & Wesson rifles were missing from his car, which parked in a condominium garage at 1050 Brickell Ave.
Police later released surveillance video to the media showing a man getting into a 2016 black Mercedes Benz E 400, sitting for a few minutes and then removing something from the trunk.
On Tuesday, police say a tip came in leading them to Patterson. It was not clear whether the guns were recovered.
