Fourth and fifth grade students competed in the Aventura City of Excellence School's fourth annual spelling bee on Tuesday April 13th, and had an audience of their peers on the edge of their seats until the final syllable.
A total of 107 words were used to find the winner. Fourth grader Ian Baracco won first place, fifth grader Santiago de Urbina won second place and fifth grader April Ansari won third place. The finalists will go on to compete in the Fifth Annual Charter Schools USA Spelling Bee competition in mid-May.
Reading specialist Ms. Ortiz organized the event.
