Miami-Dade police officers opened fire early Sunday morning on a man outside of his South Miami-Dade home after responding to a call that shots had been fired in the area, according to police.
The unidentified man was wounded and taken to Kendall Regional Trauma center in stable condition.
Police spokesman Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said when the two officers arrived at about 4 a.m. to the 20000 block of Southwest 122nd Place, they were greeted by a man with a shotgun.
“It was too soon to give specifics,” he said.

It is not clear how many shots were fired and by whom. The officers, who have not been named, were not injured.
