Angry that his mother kept telling him what to do and pushing him to get a job, a 50-year-old man stabbed her to death as she slept in her Southwest Miami-Dade home, according to Miami-Dade police.
Francis Roig was charged with second-degree murder Monday after police say he stabbed Georgina Roig at their home at 13200 SW 53rd St., just north of Kendale Lakes.
According to investigators, Roig went into his mother’s bedroom at about 2 a.m. and stabbed her in the chest with an unknown sharp object. Roig then took off in a Toyota.
Meanwhile, someone called police to report that a woman covered in blood was outside of the home. When police arrived they found Georgina Roig dead on the porch.
A “be on the lookout,” was issued for Francis Roig’s car, which was later spotted on Southwest 24th Street at 79th Avenue. After stopping his car, Roig tried to run, but was caught by officers.
Roig later told police he was mad at his mother and didn’t know whether she was dead or alive when he left, according to Roig’s police report.
