The writers of the Miami Herald’s recent series on the deaths of hundreds of Florida children, called Innocents Lost, will appear at noon today on WLRN’s Florida Roundup.
Also participating with Carol Marbin Miller and Audra D.S. Burch will be: Gilda Ferradaz, the Department of Children & Families’ Miami administrator, Fran Allegra, the head of Our Kids of Miami, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties’ privately run foster care and adoption agency, and Margie Menzel, a reporter for the News Service of Florida.
The series documented how 477 children - all of them with a DCF family history - died after the state implemented a rigorous family preservation program while simultaneously slashing programs for vulnerable children and troubled parents.
