A 64-year-old woman was hospitalized with injuries after she was driving and crashed into a tree.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue had to use the “Jaws of Life” to remove her from the car, which was badly damaged in the crash.
The woman, who was not named, was pinned in the passenger compartment. She was a lone occupant in the car at the time of the crash and no one else was injured.
Fort Lauderdale officials say the accident occurred in the 3200 block of Port Royale Drive at noon Thursday.
Paramedics took her to Broward Health North in critical condition.
The cause of the accident still is under investigation.
