A 78-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of his sister-in-law who had been visiting from Cuba, Hialeah police said Saturday.

Angel Dominguez is accused of killing his wife's sister, Hidelisa Echemendia, Friday morning with a single gunshot, police said in a news release. Family members alerted police about 1 p.m., and Dominguez remained at the home and spoke with officers, according to the release.

No motive is yet apparent.

Dominguez's wife, Blesilda Dominguez, was also found dead in the home. Investigators are working to determine a cause of death; neighbors and witnesses said Friday that she may have died of a heart attack.

"This is an isolated yet truly unfortunate tragedy involving elderly family members, two of which were long time Hialeah residents," Lt. Carl Zogby said.
