A gushing water main break in Miami Beach cut off water to the city’s Belle Isle neighborhood early Friday. The city issued a precautionary boil-water advisory for the 560 affected residents in three buildings; service was expected to be restored by noon.
"It was not a major water main break," Miami Beach spokeswoman Nannette Rodriguez said. "Therefore, we were able to close two water main valves to fix break at the valve."
Belle Isle resident Lynn Neifeld received an announcement Friday morning that her apartment unit’s water would soon be shut off. Shortly after that, she said, she was told to turn off all air conditioners.
“I'm up here, and I don't see any changes yet,” she said. “I'm not really sure how it's going to affect my day.”
