Early Saturday morning, a popular Miami social media user shared a series of posts starkly different from the humorous videos he’s known for.
“I just got jumped by 4 bouncers and the Pouncey Twins at Cameo,” Ricky Vasquez posted on Twitter. “I'm going to press charges. My face is swollen.”
In posts that went viral, he alleges that Dolphins center Mike Pouncey and his twin brother Maurkice, who plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, attacked him and a female friend at Cameo nightclub on Miami Beach. The friend, identified only as Honey, said in an Instagram post that Maurkice Pouncey punched her when she tried to protect Vasquez. According to Cameo’s website, the nightclub hosted a birthday bash for the twins Friday night.
In an Instagram video posted after 5 a.m., Vasquez, who goes by @irickyvasquez on Instagram, looks around with tears streaming down his face. His face is visibly swollen. Sirens can be heard in the background.
Soon after, people began to flood social media in support of Vasquez, with many posting that the Pouncey brothers should be ashamed.
Miami Beach police spokesman Bobby Hernandez confirmed that police were called to Cameo early Saturday, but not whether the football players were suspects. After detectives speak to the alleged victims, he said, the department will move forward with its investigation.
“We haven’t confirmed that it’s the Pouncey brothers,” Hernandez said.
In one of the videos, Vasquez asked anyone who witnessed the fight to talk to police.
“I know you guys saw what happened, and I just hope somebody comes forward and says something,” he said.
