Addonis Parker was painting inside his Liberty City art studio, in the 6200 block of Northwest Seventh Avenue, around 3 p.m. Wednesday when an SUV barreled through the front door.
"I am trying to understand how this could happen," said Parker, in disbelief. "There are tens of thousands of dollars in damage."
The first thing Parker did was inspect his landmark mural of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. near the crash, at the intersection.
"I just restored that," Parker said.
The mural was not damaged.
Parker, a nationally known artist, was commissioned by Miami-Dade County in 2012 to restore Purvis Young's mural in Overtown. Last year, he represented the Global African Diaspora at Art Basel Miami.
