The mother of Ghanson Debross, the young North Miami boy who died this week of gruesome injuries, likely will face additional charges, Maj. Neal Cuevas said Friday.
Cuevas spoke after reading the just-completed autopsy of the 3-year-old. It showed he died of multiple injuries and trauma, Cuevas said.
Ghanson was rushed to the hospital early Tuesday morning. He had burns to his face and fingers and scars from wounds apparently inflicted with a belt buckle. His mother, Fafane Caze, 21, confessed to beating him and burning him with a lighter, sometimes as punishment over toilet training issues.
Caze, of the 12500 block of Northeast 13th Avenue, was initially charged with aggravated child abuse and torture. An attempted felony charge was subsequently added, and Cuevas said Friday that the charges will likely be upgraded again.
