Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a suspect in the sexual assault of a woman on a Miami street.

Terence Jefferson, 33, is accused of assaulting and robbing a woman at gunpoint as she sat in a car Dec. 30 in an Upper Eastside neighborhood, Northeast Ninth Avenue at 86th Street.

Miami Police Chief Manuel Orosa made the announcement of the arrest on Wednesday.

The woman was in the car setting her GPS when a man jumped in and drove to an abandoned house. He threatened her with a gun and then sexually assaulted her, according to the arrest report.

Jefferson was jailed two weeks ago in a separate robbery case.

Authorities said the case was solved with the help of two schoolgirls who were robbed a day after the sexual assault of the woman. The girls were walking in the area of Northeast 80th Street and Seventh Avenue when a man approached. He took the girls’ belongings and drove off.
