Miami police on Monday continued to investigate what led to a shooting over the weekend that killed two women and injured another two women in the Model City area.

Tiarra Ashanda Grant, 18, who leaves behind a month-old baby, and Shalaunda Williams, 22 were killed in the gunfire that took place early Sunday in the area of Northwest 12th Avenue and 64th street.

Two other women were taken to the hospital, one with several wounds to her leg and the other with a gunshot wound to her arm.

Police spokeswoman Frederica Burden said Monday leads were "coming in very slow," with information on the shooting.

"We are baffled as to why this happened," she said, adding that it’s not clear why the women were in the area or if they knew each other.

“It’s so senseless,” she said.

Miami Fire Rescue responded to a call of multiple wounded and when they arrived, rescuers found four women between Northwest 64th and 65th Street.

Grant and Williams did not have a pulse when paramedics arrived.

Burden urged the community to come forward with information.

“Any information at all will help,” she said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami police at 305-603-6350 or Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
