Miami-Dade County’s public television channel doesn’t exactly top the rating charts, with its broadcasts of zoning hearings and commission meetings.
But it still won a regional Emmy this month — for a clever public service announcement.
The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded Miami-Dade TV with the prize for a spot titled “The Most Interesting Pets in the World.” It’s a spoof on “The Most Interesting Man in the World” beer commercials promoting the adoption of animal-shelter pets.
“She lives all nine of her lives simultaneously,” the spot begins, showing a playful cat. “His bark is better than his bite,” it continues, featuring a dressed-up dog.
“What interesting pet will you find when you connect, adopt and love a shelter pet from Miami-Dade animal services?”
The win marked the county’s third regional Emmy trophy.
