A security guard watching over an Opa-locka apartment complex from an enclosed booth was shot Thursday morning when several men opened fired on three other men in a car.
The guard was hit in the thigh and has “non-life-threatening injuries,” said Chief Jeffrey Key of the Opa-locka Police Department. He was airlifted to the hospital.
“The pain was so horrible, all I could do was just lay there and watch the blood just ooze out of my body,” Marcquise McLemore, 26, told CBS4. All of a sudden these bullets, I felt somebody shot me and they just kept going, they shot at me three times. It’s a shame people can try to take someone’s life so easily, without even a conscience, just to show how big and bad they are.”
The three men in the car were grazed by bullets.
The gunfire jolted The Gardens apartment complex, 13180 Port Said Rd., and pocked the guardhouse with bullet holes.
“I was sleeping in my bed and we heard shots fired,” resident Tony Rojas told reporters.
This bulletin will be updated as more information becomes available.
