One man was injured in a police-involved shooting following an armed carjacking in northwest Miami Thursday morning. Two other suspects remain at large.
The unidentified injured man was transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition.
Two other men fled from the scene at Northwest 79th Street and Sixth Court in the stolen car, which was abandoned a few blocks away, said Miami-Dade Police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta.
Zabaleta said police responded to early-morning reports of an armed car jacking in the area of 46th and approximately 22nd Avenue. Minutes later, police found the car that fit the description of the stolen vehicle. Shots were fired at about 5 a.m.
One of the three people in the stolen car was struck by gunfire, Zabaleta said.
“The other two subjects fled in a vehicle to an area close by,” he said. The police found the car at around 76th Street and Northwest Fourth Avenue.
No further details on the other two suspects was immediately known.
