Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez is rescheduling two public meetings that had been planned for this week to hear from residents on the proposed 2013-14 budget.
The town-hall style meetings in Florida City and West Miami-Dade will be pushed back because Gimenez will be out of town on county business. The meetings have drawn plenty of interest as supporters of the county’s firefighters and public libraries protest steep cuts envisioned in the budget.
On Tuesday, Gimenez will travel to Washington D.C. to attend the White House commemoration of the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins. On Thursday and Friday, the mayor will travel to Orlando to attend the 2013 U.S. Manufacturing Summit.
Tuesday’s meeting has been rescheduled to 6 p.m. Sept. 3 at Florida City’s City Hall, 404 W. Palm Dr.
Thursday’s meeting has been rescheduled to 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at the West Dade Regional Library, 9445 Coral Way.
A third meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Little Haiti Cultural Center, remains unchanged.
