South Florida fog will give way this afternoon to possible thunderstorms.

A fog advisory was lifted just after 8 a.m., the first day of spring. Fog forming across interior and rural portions of Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties drifted into some metro sections of the region.

Some areas had less than a quarter-mile visibility, according to the weather service.

Thunderstorms are expected Wednesday afternoon in advance of an approaching cold front.

Forecasters expect a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The high will be around 80 and the low 64.
