A man posing as a police officer sexually battered a woman inside a Bonita Springs home and then took off in a silver or tan sedan, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
The man may be headed to the Miami area, according to Miami Herald news partner CBS4.
On Wednesday, the sheriff's office released a sketch of the man who detectives say was wearing a police tactical vest with a police-type insignia and dark pants. He also had a firearm and identifief himself as an officer.
The incident happened just after 6 p.m. Tuesday. The sheriff's office said the woman let the officer in after he identified himself as an officer.
That's when she was sexually assaulted, police said. Another woman and a 4-year-old child in the home were not harmed.
It was not clear if the sexual assault was related two other incidents early Wednesday in East Fort Myers.
Anyone with information is asked to call Lee County Sheriff's Office at 239-477-1000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
