We asked: Why do you celebrate Pride?
Pride celebrations allow communities to reflect on those who fought for our right to equality, fairness and respect, and inspire [us] to continue the journey and leave no one behind. Harvey Milk lived this way. Sylvia Rivera and Marsha Johnson did as well. When Gilbert Baker gave us our rainbow flag, he gave us much more than colored strips of fabric; he gave us a symbol of our diversity and vibrancy, as well as our strength in unity and resilience. To me Pride is how I carry myself every day. How I earn my stripes with every act of leadership, integrity and respect. Pride is leading by example. Orgullo es el poder y fuerza para simplemente, SER. Pride is the power and force to simply, BE.
