“This is a great opportunity for the University of Miami OUTLaw students not only to pair with mentors, but also to network with members of the legal community,” said Bilzin Sumberg attorney and partner Brian S. Adler. “The students are always extremely appreciative of this opportunity and the guidance practicing attorneys provide.”
Here’s a letter sent by OUTLaw co-presidents Austen Caraker and Kevin Correa inviting students and legal professionals to the networker:
Never miss a local story.
I am excited to announce our annual Annual Mentoring Event will be held Tuesday, October 14 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Bilzin Sumberg (1450 Brickell Avenue, 23rd Floor, Miami, FL 33131-3456).
This tradition has become one of my favorite events of the year. It is an opportunity, every fall, for our new 1L members to be paired with local attorneys and judges from the supportive LGBT legal community (and our allies) here in Miami. We are so appreciative to our friends who have volunteered their time in the past. We ask for your support again this year!
We are especially grateful to Brian Adler and Bilzin Sumberg for generously offering to host the event again this year.
Because of you, OUTLaw has a mentoring program unlike any other student organization on campus. We thank those of you who have volunteered in the past, and we invite anyone else interested in participating in this year's program to let us know.
If you would like to be a mentor this year (or have questions about the role), please let us know. It does not have to take a lot of your time, and it means a lot to our new students.
Even if you are not able to be a mentor this year, please consider taking a few minutes to stop by the reception and say hello and welcome our new students.
To RSVP (either as a mentor or just to join us for a drink to meet our new class), please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org (by Friday, October 10). It would also be helpful if you could indicate your practice area for purposes of matching you with a mentee.
While this event is specifically to pair new students with mentors, we invite all of our students and allies to come out and be supportive.
If you plan to attend the event, please RSVP at email@example.com as soon as possible no later than Friday, October 10, and indicate if you would like to be paired with a mentor, along with your area(s) of legal interest if you have one.
Location for mentoring event:
Bilzin Sumberg, 1450 Brickell Avenue, 23rd Floor, Miami, FL 33131-3456.
Again, the event will be Tuesday, October 14 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, and promises to be a fun, productive evening.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
