A 16-year-old boy was arrested Thursday afternoon at his Pembroke Pines home, accused of shooting a 15-year-old boy in the head.
According to the police report, Pembroke Pines Police and Fire Rescue responded to a shooting in the 8200 block of NW 10th Street around 12:30 p.m. The shooter fired a gun that he believed was not loaded and shot the other teen between the eyes, police said.
After firing the shot, the teen left the room before returning a few minutes later and calling 911, according to police.
The 16-year-old, who was arrested and taken to the juvenile assessment center, admitted to purchasing the gun about two weeks ago and said he had it hidden in his bedroom, police said.

The 15-year-old was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with critical injuries, including several facial fractures and a severed carotid artery, and is in guarded condition.
